James Beard Award Winner for her book, “Dish Entertains” Trish is a food and lifestyle entrepreneur with vast experience. She has been part of several brand campaigns and hosted “party dish” on Food Network Canada and HGTV and Fine Living in the USA.

Trish Magwood is a food and lifestyle entrepreneur who has spent her career in retail, media and start ups as a business owner.
Most recently, as head of Food Experience, Trish was part of the senior team that brought Feast to market – Toronto’s local, healthy food delivery company. As an advisor, she consults niche lifestyle brands in early stage or transformative high growth stage. As a brand ambassador and spokesperson, she does endorsement work for lifestyle brands through product launches and media campaigns. As a retailer, she created ‘picks by trish’ – and e-commerce experience and seasonal pop up with curated food and lifestyle favourites from the kitchen and for the home. As a media personality, she’s produced and hosted shows for Food Network and done regular guest appearances on Canada and US networks.
Trish’s advisory work includes the launch of a healthy food program at Branksome Hall. She also worked with Indigo as a food and entertaining merchant, media and content consultant helping to grow their lifestyle and online business.
Trish has years of experience as a successful food entrepreneur, business owner, teacher, chef and media personality through her creative service company dish cooking studio. She built and created dish as a school for scheduled and corporate cooking classes, a full service catering company, a boutique kitchen store, and a gourmet café and after 10 years, Trish sold dish cooking studio.
Trish also created and hosted party dish – (Food Network Canada, Slice, Fine Living US and 70 countries worldwide) an entertaining and lifestyle television show sharing her passion and knowledge for food and entertaining. Trish was also a judge on 26 episodes of Food Network Canada’s Family Cook-Off in 2011.
Trish’s first cookbook – award-winning, best seller dish entertains (Harper Collins), shares menus, ‘best of’ recipes and tips for everyday simple to special occasion events. The National Post voted ‘this beautiful book wins the best looking Canadian book this season’ and Hello magazine called it ‘a very approachable book… with recipes simple and delicious, this lushly photographed book brings memorable party fare within reach of even the busiest cook.’ dish entertains won the prestigious James Beard Award in 2008 for entertaining, and also received 2008 World Gourmand Award and Cuisine Canada Award, Silver Medal in Cookbooks.
Trish’s second cookbook In My Mother’s Kitchen (Harper Collins spring 2011) with 3 generations of delicious simple family food sharing recipes and tips for busy modern cooks. It became Heather’s Pick at Indigo, was on The Globe & Mail best seller list in it’s first month and became a national best seller in it’s first six months. In My Mother’s Kitchen is also available as an app in iTunes.
Trish is a freelance food and lifestyle consultant who has written for The Globe & Mail. Her corporate relationships include those with Johnson + Johnson (Polysporin), Epipen, California Almond Board, Stouffers, Kellogg’s, Bombay Sapphire, RBC, Melitta, CORONA, Dell, Carnation and Black Diamond.
Trish has created, produced and hosted a series of lifestyle and cooking videos along with recipes and photos in her APP Trish’s Kitchen available on iTunes. These fun and useful videos are also available on Trish Magwood You Tube Channel.
Trish got her formal training at Peter Kump’s New York Cooking School (ICE), worked as a private chef and catered professionally with her own company before launching dish. Trish is a member of the International Academy of Culinary Professionals (IACP) and received the designation of Fellow of the Ontario Hostelry Institute in recognition of her professional achievements.
